U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to deploy thousands of troops to the U.S.-Mexico border was expected, although not like this, just a few days before the U.S. midterm elections. According to official numbers currently, about 4,800 American military personnel are serving at the southern border of the United States which will likely rise to 8,000 under “present plans”. In an interview to a mainstream outlet ABC News, he said that “We have to have a wall of people.” pointing to new plans which are calling for a total of 15,000 soldiers to be deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border.
Evidently, this excessive move from the Trump administration is being officially justified by fears of a great migrant influx and migrant “caravans”. However, just days before the Midterms it’s clear that it’s a political move trying to appease Republican voters and win some other votes.
The U.S. Department of Defense could not yet estimate the amount which will be spent on this deployment of thousands of people and other assets. According to the Washington Post, it might cost up to $200 million to U.S. taxpayers by the end of this year. A few outlets are more conservative, and most likely closer to the real cost, citing about $42 – $100 million as a price tag for this extra political endorsement for the Republican party. Contrary to popular belief, according to official data most people enter the United States legally and overstay becoming illegal immigrants. So this deployment will not only be expensive, but ineffective as well. Immigration laws and practices should be examined instead.
Democrat supporters and progressive outlets are asserting that a “Blue Wave” will hit the United States in a response to Donald Trump, although the Democratic party doesn’t have a real message or platform anymore, they seem to aim only to combat and remove Donald Trump.
People who are disgusted with the “progressive” ideas of the Democratic party and at the same time disappointed by the foreign (Syrian strikes, Israel, Saudi Arabia, trade war) and domestic policy (massive homelessness in Los Angeles, lack of running water in parts of Detroit, etc.) of the Trump administration have little choice but to abstain. This election, like many others before, will definitely not change the policies of the United States or how the legalized corruption of political system called “campaign contributions” operate.
The ‘false paradigm’, also called as ‘artificial divide’ is the current one-party political system of the U.S. which masquerades as a two-party system and subsequently dominates the political discourse of the country. This is the very system some of the post-Yeltsin Russian officials and its oligarchs wanted for Russia, a “social democrat” and a “neo-conservative” party. Both of which would have been an artificially created, funded and run with the aims of diverting attention from the wrongdoings of the real decision makers inside the government, making sure that the country and the people can easily be exploited and robbed, and channeling social and political discontent into a fake system designed to change nothing in practice. That is what’s happening in the United States.
