United States envoy to the United Nations Nikki Haley has said in his statement to FOX News that “to see American troops come home, but we are not going to leave until we know we have accomplished those things”, these things include,
- ensuring that chemical weapons will not be used in Syria,
- defeating the Islamic State and
- getting into a good position to look at Iran.
Since the Islamic State was covertly funded by more than 40 nation states, all of these points make it very clear that the U.S. military, at least in theory, is not going to move out of Syria until Bashar al-Assad is replaced and no longer is president of Syria. After replacing Assad with any puppet of their repertoire to get their new pipeline and other projects going in the region.
A change of government of Syria will mean more American military bases in the region and a larger presence of the U.S. military. The U.S., the U.K., and France along with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Israel will definitely get more interested in poking Iran as much as possible using their political allies, friends, and contacts in other countries along with the mainstream media.
This news is unwelcome because it can and probably it will prolong the 4-year-long struggle in Syria.
The United States military at the moments according to the Syrian envoy to the U.N. controls about 1/3 of Syrian territory, some outlets claiming that the army currently employs more than 2,000 contractors on the ground, however, the number of employed contractors is still unconfirmed.
