Spring Vacation Save for later Reblog

When you think you’re ready…
Just when you’re about to think which suitcase to take out and what of a gadgets you might need for the trip, the cold hits you and get you almost a bed-ridden. Not that I’m one of those hypochondriacs, on the contrary, but this one seems to be pretty bad and definitely worth of chilling it out at home at this age.
Although I am not an advocate for pills or those over the counter remedies, sometimes you might need those. How about now? Should I go get some? Nah… stinging nettle tea with a pinch of dandelion root should do it for now. Spent a stuffy-nose-night drying my throat that requires some humidification now. My grandpa would cure the situation with a shot o’ brandy and laughed at me and my ideas to get up to something in the morning.
However, my remedies sometimes work and worked this time as well. Two days later was ready to roll.
No matter how healthy (or not) you might be, just thinking of 13-14 hours being stranded in a closed space with 300 (and some) more humans makes you feel sick. I don’t think that these kind of long flights are meant for human beings. Not that I’m having some fear or phobia of flying, but simply that long without a chance to “take a smoke break” makes me feel “don’t wanna go”. But I want to go! Long time longing vacation, getting away from my desks in office and home, limited (maybe not but like to read it that way) access to e-mails, grid headaches etc… YES!!! I SO WANT TO GO!!!
Often I think of myself as a “laid back workaholic”. Whether it is because I love what I do, or ’cause it changes almost daily, but I agree with my family that I do spend some serious extra time working (although I like to see it as learning). But more often than not, along my work I end up browsing and looking around what my next destination will be. Spin the globe and where it stops… do I like it? Aye or nay comes based on how filthy or clean those places may occur to me. Not that I’m OCD about cleanliness, but I simply don’t wanna share pool at the places considered filthy, nor I wanna have my towels delivered to me at those places. Not to mention that I’d never want my kid to get sick at those places. Does that make me “picky”?
My kiddo initiated this vacation to Asia. Crazy fan of “anime” and other Japanese forms of art. But if we have to fly across Pacific, why not adding a few other places (saves me another long haul)? Therefore, we decided for this time to visit Hong Kong, Korea (not North, but you never know), and Japan. This will take us places that 20-odd years ago, while living in a country of my origin, I might would never even wanted to visit… hm, not true because Toshiro Mifune and Akira Kurosawa always kept that pilot light about Japan burning inside me.
That’s it. First stop: Hong Kong. Let’s MOVE ON…
