Gawker Ranks Most Conservative TV Shows To Watch Save for later Reblog

Gawker.com! A vapid gossip news site that’s long since perished under its own stupidity. Gawker was the home of a great many insane projects such as their “Gawker Stalker” application, where the site kept GPS locations for celebrities. Fans could log on and post where they last saw celebs, and people would flock to that spot. Not only was this a complete violation of their privacy, but there were even cases where celebrity lives were put in danger for clicks!
The more well known Gawker scandal was their release of Hulk Hogan’s sex tape! Naturally, Hogan sued the company for violation of privacy, which led to Gawker livestreaming the trial for publicity! In other words, the site is a hive of scum and villainy.
Well, back in 2008 Gawker released an article titled “The Most Conservative and Most Liberal Shows on TV”. Lets check this out and see if this article aligns with a hall of fame, or Gawker’s well populated, Hall of Shame!
LEFT WING SHOWS
On the Far Left, Gawker says ’30 Rock’ is the show to watch. The plot is basically that a liberal head writer is constantly arguing with her wacky conservative boss. Personally I never found it to be too far partisan, but lets see what’s next.
Slightly to the right of ’30 Rock’, Gawker names “Greek” and “Mad Men” as liberal shows. Why? Because there were gay and brown characters in the shows! So according to Gawker, a single gay character is enough to call an entire show liberal, regardless of the messages the show conveys! I swear, the writers at Gawker have the political expertise of literal children!
CENTRIST SHOWS
Gawker goes on to claim that “Gossip Girl” is centrist – WHAT?! The main characters all sleep around and do drugs! There’s bisexuals and homosexuals everywhere! Not a single character behaves with any semblance of responsibility! If they honestly view “Gossip Girl” as centrist, the writers at Gawker need some serious help.
Then Gawker claims that “South Park” is centrist too. This claim hasn’t aged well considering the creators of South Park have come out as Republicans recently. And even before that revelation, South Park was always a morally gray and incomprehensible hurricane of nonsense! Within a single episode ideas would be cogent, but more times than I can count, lessons taught by South Park directly contradict what was conveyed in previous episodes!
In that sense, I suppose South Park COULD be considered centrist after all! Moral contradictions and insults replacing arguments, yep! Sounds centrist to me!
RIGHT WING SHOWS
Gawker claims that “Two and a Half Men” is right wing because they’re “enemies of ideas and progress” … Gawker, have you seen that show??? Drugs, Sex, Divorce, Parents picking up random booty calls, cursing, with absolutely no sense of morality and community. If Two and a Half Men is conservative, then I’m a flying spaghetti monster!
I don’t know a single republican who watches “Two and a Half Men”, because it doesn’t appeal to them at all! These warped views of the world held by Gawker writers are just sad! I swear this article was just click-bait attention seeking nonsense!
Next Gawker claims that “24” is a conservative show because its “pro torture and shooting first then maybe ask questions”. These generalizations are really getting out of hand! Is Gawker honestly saying that conservatives all support torture and randomly shooting each other?? They’re practically treating conservatives like animals!
Lastly, Gawker claims that “The Hills” is a right wing show because there aren’t any gays to be found. You hear that? Just add a gay into the show and suddenly you’re a liberal! You think if Sean Hannity interviewed more gays, that Fox would suddenly be a liberal network?
So after reading this article, my interest is piqued. Gawker is obviously wrong on most of their assumptions so I wonder… What do the actual statistics show? What shows do liberals like on television versus conservatives.
Liberals LOVE
- Saturday Night Live
- The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
- Real Time with Bill Maher
- The Colbert Report* (Comedy Central)
- The Simpsons (Fox)
- Glee (Fox)
- Modern Family (ABC)
WHY
- All the late night talk shows are mostly just making fun of republicans
- Modern Family normalizes homosexuality
- Glee sexualizes teenagers and promotes bisexuality
And as for The Simpsons, this may seem strange at first! Instead of turning your brain off to watch TV, really think about what’s being shown to you. The Simpsons, where Marge has left Homer upwards of four times and brought a complete stranger into their home to meet the kids. Marge started dating again less than 3 weeks after Homer left! And the newer episodes only get worse! The casual approach to sex the show has, alienates everybody BUT liberals!
Conservatives LOVE
- Rent or Buy (HGTV)
- Buying and Selling (HGTV)
- Blue Bloods (CBS)
- Duck Dynasty (A&E)
- House Hunters International (HGTV)
- Love It or List It (HGTV)
Republicans favor business and real estate shows, of course, but they also like crime and bible shows.
Personally as a conservative I can tell you I also love competition shows based on skill like Hells Kitchen! Another genre I love has to do with the day to day running of a business, like Pawn Shops! I actually have never heard of any of the shows listed outside of Duck Dynasty.
If you ask me for my personal list of conservative shows, I have a few suggestions!
- Walker Texas Ranger?
- Everybody loves Raymond?
- King of the Hill?
- The Waltons?
- Gunsmoke?
- Dragnet?
- Magnum PI?
Bottom line, if an article tries to generalize what people are watching, its near always wrong! This is almost as bad as those articles that generalize you based on your zodiac sign! Man, thank goodness Gawker went out of business! Between the violations of privacy and completely idiotic articles, I think the world is a much better place without it.
Rest in Peace Gawker! And don’t come back!
