Facebook is working on its New Feature: a Class system Save for later Reblog
The tech giant, Facebook is currently hard at work on a new feature of their site which will enable Facebook to determine its users social and financial status. This effort will not use the traditional financial classification of individuals, such as: the working class, the middle class and the upper class, but instead it is planned to be much more elaborate and meaningful for users and advertisers. The new class signifiers could be real estate ownership and internet-connected devices rather than an income-based system – since Facebook would have a hard time collecting data on that as of today. These relatively new gadgets, would include regular desktop, laptop computers, smart phones and even Internet of Things devices (vehicles – I am looking at you Tesla, household appliances – your fridge, washing machine, your microwave, etc.)
After identifying a given person’s place in Facebook’s class system, the data could be used to recommend new friends and groups, show or hide Facebook posts and shares on the main page and on search pages, and even it could probably be importance for the majority of product advertisers, such as car manufacturers, travel agencies, fashion brands or eve for clinics who are offering plastic surgeries and other procedures.
